Analysis of Gordon's Garden Tomb. Identifies it, to the satisfaction of the author, as the most probable site of the Tomb from which the Resurrection of Jesus Christ took place.

The Tomb, formally known as "Gordon's Tomb of Christ" (or Gordon's Garden Tomb) has been known to the public for many years. Since its accidental discovery in 1867, the tomb formed the subject of discussion in many published works. An early writer conceived of the tomb as "the greatest of the many impostures at Jerusalem ." (Life of Sir Charles Wilson by Col. Sir C. M. Watson, pgs. 380). Another learned writer, Col. Conder, asserts dogmatically that the Gordon Tomb is not a "Jewish" tomb at all, but was constructed by Christians in connection with the Templar's Hospice - in the twelfth century A.D.

In this treatise, the author (who has visited the Gordon Garden Tomb several times) has attempted to place before the reader the constructive argument that a prima facie case has been established that Gordon's Garden Tomb is identifiable as the most probable site of the Tomb of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. And, at the same time, reconcile what seem to be discrepancies in the Gospel accounts of the events occurring on Resurrection Day.

A small sample of this detailed and informative work is the following comparison by Mr. Capt with the Resurrection Tomb, as described in the Scriptures, and Gordon's Garden Tomb:

"All four Gospels give clues to the location and appearance of the burial place of Jesus. Mathew, Mark and Luke all state that the tomb was hewn out of rock. Matthew adds that it was a new tomb and Luke states that no one had been interred there - implying that the tomb was yet unfinished, an implication confirmed by the presence of uncompleted loculi. (Mat.27:60, Mark 15.46, Luke 23:53) John writes that the tomb was in a garden. (John 19;41) The mention of a "garden" usually indicated in those days a working vineyard or orchard.

"In Jesus' day the entrance to family vaults in private gardens was usually 3 to 4 feet in height, just high enough to push the beir in, with the soil outside cut away temporarily to give access to it. A rough stone of the required size would then be placed to block the entrance. Thus, the tomb would be concealed except for a small window or opening, just above the ground level, for the purpose of inspection and ventilation. All the Biblical particulars of the tomb and the burial customs of the period are consistent with Gordon's garden Tomb.

"Excavations around the Garden Tomb during the past 100 years have yielded evidence that the area around the tomb was once a fertile garden containing several cisterns. (One very large cistern with a capacity of around 200,000 gallons of water will be discussed later) Further proof of the existence of a vineyard came in 1924 with the discovery of a fine wine-press, which is exposed today about five feet below the present ground level."

Mrs. Elder states what is little known but of the greatest importance...the fact that Christianity, as a Church, was born in England before anywhere else, and that England was a professed Christian country one hundred years before Rome and, in fact, when Rome was still persecuting Christians.

She draws attention to the singular change, without any opposition, from Druidism to Christianity, which was understandable in that fundamentally they had no great difference in belief. An interesting point is also made as to the difference between the British Church and the Church of England.

The Tribe of Dan, by its enterprise and vigor, has made itself one of the most conspicuous branches of Jacob's family. Its ancestor was the son of one of the concubines, and was the firstborn of Rachel's household. "God has judged me", said Rachel, and she called his name "Dan", which means to judge, to rule; and this word, perhaps on that occasion first started as a surname has been perpetuated as a title in the Gothic, Anglo-Saxon and English. In these languages Din, Dun, Don and Dan, signify ruler, master. The expression is repeatedly used by Shakespeare, Spenser, Chauser, Prior and others. The Spanish, too, from close contact for ages with the Hebrew, has engrafted it in their title of Don; it is in use in the universities to designate a professor or university official.

How often do we see in the Bible that the name of an individual, foreshadows the character and career. Dan's name given by Rachel implies authority and vigor, and Jacob, when bestowing his blessings (Gen. 49:16), repeats and confirms it: "Dan shall judge his people", said the venerable patriarch, and proceeded to name other characteristics implying great wisdom and astuteness. The serpent is the scriptural symbol of wisdom (Gen. 3:1; Matt. 10:16) : In dealing with foes his plans would be laid with wisdom and secrecy, and his action would be unlooked for and rapid.

Thus begins the opening chapter of this 1880 reprint of the Tribe of Dan's early enterprises and their settlements and connections with the Scythians. The Danaans, or Danes of Scandinavia, Ireland and Scotland are traced back to the Tribe of Dan.

Colonel Gawler shows the connection between the Danai of Greece and the Danites of Israel and tells why he believes Dan was not sealed among the 144,000 in the Book of Revelation.

This book deals with the age old question of: the purpose of Stonehenge who the master-builders were and when it was built.

Stonehenge, standing in lonely majesty on England's great Salisbury Plain is wreathed in mystery. From the earliest times it has aroused the awe and curiosity of it's visitors. What was it's purpose? Who were the master builders? When was it built?

Although not counted as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, Stonehenge does count as one of the most unique wonders of the world. A monument so old that it's true history was probably forgotten by classic times. Greek and Roman writers hardly mention it.

Having declared that the heavens reveal God's glory, the Psalmist informs us that the heavens declare a message in a language that is understood by all peoples. The answer is quite evident. Pictures speak in all dialects. They speak a universal language, to all peoples everywhere. Somewhere in the earliest ages of human existence the visible stars were named. Certain ones were arranged into groups by someone thoroughly familiar with the laws of astronomy. Those names and groupings were at the same time included in certain figures, natural or imaginary, but intensely symbolic and significant. Today we know them as Constellations.

Twelve constellations make up the Zodiac. These major star groupings form a belt which circle the sky close to the plane of the earth's orbit around the sun.
